Leicestershire Senior League Premiership Division: Kirby Muxloe Reserves 3 Sileby Town 2.

Kirby Muxloe Sports Ground. 400 Ratby Ln, Kirby Muxloe, Leicester LE9 2AQ

The hottest evening for a long time saw us mooch up to Ratby Lane for a local derby. Kirby’s ‘ground’ is a little belter; tree-lined with a mixture of stands and a decent club-house. The game itself was lively with a cracking second-half. Kirby had a man sent off for slapping Sileby’s number 9 and there was a square-up between Kirby’s ample-sized goalie and half of Sileby’s forwards. Kirby went into a 3-1 lead before Sileby equalised with 10 minutes left and then bombarded the Kirby goal. The last 5 minutes saw 7 corners for Sileby but Kirby managed to hang-on. There was some ‘epic bantz’ between Kirby fans and players with Sileby’s (useless) number 9 who we dubbed ‘The Matalan Zlatan’. (Wrote ‘Kirby’ and ‘Sileby’ about a million times each there. Awful writing tbh).

Frankie played ball-boy all match, tearing off at full-pelt whenever a shot went high or wide (very often!). He had a little kickabout with the subs before we left right-on full-time to escape the increasingly hungry mosquitoes.
