FA Cup First Qualifying Round: Leicester Road 0 Kirby Muxloe 0.
Leicester Road Stadium, Leicester Rd, Hinckley, Leicester LE10 3DR
The first FA cup day of the season arrived on a proper Autumnal day so I had to dig a Fjallraven jacket out of the wardrobe for its debut this term. With our proposed trip to Boston to watch FCUM going belly-up due to transport issues and illness, Pittodrie Ace-Face Neil also joined us for the first time this season. Neither Leicester Road nor Kirby Muxloe have made it to this stage of the FA cup before so it was a bit of an occasion. It was also National Non-League Day and a bit of a local derby (though the locals wouldn’t agree).
Frankie and I were conflicted. He wanted to Leicester Rd to win whilst I was KM all the way. Neil wasn’t really bothered until KM took to the field in their orange and black away kit which made them look like Dundee Utd so he decided to back LR.
A late sending off of KM’s number 5 for deliberate handball on the goal-line and the subsequent missing of the penalty by LR was the highlight of the game which finally came to life in the last 15 minutes. The replay is on Tuesday. We might go along dependant on the whether. Whether we can be arsed or not.
