East Midlands Counties League Premier Division: Anstey Nomads 1 Aylestone Park 3.

Cropston Rd, Leicester LE7 7BP.

A second visit to Anstey this season and our first on a Saturday. Cropston road is deffo one of our favourite grounds and we had another warm welcome. They don’t get gates much above 50-60 people but the pride they have in their club is apparent all over their clearly well-loved and tidy little ground.

The incessant rain and mudbath of a pitch didn’t make for a great spectacle but 2 minutes from the end, the game delivered one of those moments that remind us all why we love the it. Aylsetone’s tubby number 10 went clean through and, managing to keep his feet in the quagmire, produced a beautiful chip that arced over the keeper in slow-mo for one of the best goals we’ve seen this season.

To cap a decent afternoon, Crystal Palace knocked in a last-minute winner at Hull to bring my accumulator in for the second week running. The Nomads could do with a bit of my luck.
