EFL League 2: Notts County 2 Hartlepool United 1.

Meadow Lane Stadium, Meadow Ln, Nottingham NG2 3HJ

A change from our usual non-league travels saw us take in a game at the giddy heights of League Two. Notts announced a price deal of 12 quid for me and 3 for the boy so we popped over to Nottingham to visit a ground with rather more than the usual 100 seats.

I hadn’t been to Meadow Lane since I went with United in 1992 and obviously it’s changed a bit since then! The cheaper prices saw the crowd up to 8600 from the previous games 3650 so Notts have got some thinking to do about their pricing going forward.

It was a tense and exciting game with Notts deserving their win. Ex-Premier League striker Shola Ameobi scored the opener and ex-red Alan Smith came off the bench to waddle around for the last 10 minutes to secure an important 3 points their fight against relegation.

Frankie was particularly impressed with the Hartlepool lads who sang throughout despite their teams poor display and the propspect of a 48 hour journey back to the North East.
