East Midlands Counties League Premier Division: Borrowash Victoria 1 Holbrook Sports 1.

The Anderson Electrical Arena/The Bowl, Borrowash Rd, Derby, DE21 7PH

Borrowash Vics have been on my ‘to do’ list for a while and the visit to Derbyshire didn’t disappoint. The Anderson Electrical Arena suits its actual name of The Bowl much better and tbh calling it an ‘Arena’ is more than a bit far-fetched. It is a wonderful little ground though, beautifully set in the trough of a natural bowl and is clearly well-loved by the people who look after it.  Frankie’s mates Jo and McKenzie joined us on a gorgeous day, easily the warmest of the season.

The match itself wasn’t a classic and although Borrowash should have taken the 3 points, Holbrook battled well for their point. Borrowash’s goal came after a superb Laudrup-esque dribble from their number 7 which took him from the halfway line to the box. His shot was saved and after 5 seconds of pinball the ball was tickled in by number 13. Number 7’s run deserved a better finish but a goals a goal.

A really friendly and seemingly well-run club. Although we like visiting new grounds I’d deffo like to return here, though whether that will be as a attractive a prospect in November as it was in Saturday’s glorious sunshine remains to be seen.
