FA under-23 Premier League League 2: Leicester City u23 0 Manchester United u23 0.
King Power Stadium, Filbert Way, Leicester
Treble-winning legend Nicky Butt brought his young lads to town for a game that had a decidedly end-of-season vibe to it. We took Frankie’s mate Harry along so there was plenty of Leicester v United bantz throughout the game. Half-term and the fact it was the MUFC tripled the usual crowd for under-23 games and there was a decent atmosphere with plenty of reds in attendance.
The level of technique was high but there was nothing much going-on in terms of excitement. United hit a couple over the bar and Leicester forced the keeper into a couple of saves he could have caught easily but chose to fling himself into the air for the cameras instead. Cameron Borthwick Jackson’s premier league experience was clear as he remained smoothly untroubled at the back for the reds. Boonen was lively until he went off and Hamza for Leicester looked decent.
The real excitement of the evening came post-match when the lads grabbed as many players as they could for high-fives and photos and Frankie achieved his pre-match ambition of getting a snap with Nicky Butt (which unfortunately looks like it was taken with a kettle instead of a camera).
“Nicky Butt’s Red & White Army!!”
