East Midlands Counties League Premier Division: Birstall United 0 Aylestone Park 4.

Meadow Ln, Birstall, Leicester LE4 4FN

The early start to the match day meant we had time for another game so we chose Birstall as it’s only up the road and gave us a new ground to visit. A local derby against Aylestone Park provided a top-of-the-table clash. Birstall’s ground is as basic as they come but the people were lovely and the welcome warm.

We weren’t the only ones to have started the day at St Andrews as a number of people turned-up from that game, including a few Andrews players. The match was far more one-sided than expected and Birstall were never at the races. The 3rd Aylestone goal was an absolute beauty from the number 10 and quietened those in the crowd whom been giving him grief over his size* all match (*fat lad).

By halfway through the 2nd half it had turned absolutely freezing and the final whistle came as a bit of a relief. The easy distance meant me and the lad were back home in front of the fire in time to watch MUFC dispatch West Ham. A great day.
